Talk to enough independent hoteliers and a pattern shows up fast. Almost all of them have looked at a “real” revenue management system at some point, and almost all of them walked away.
Not because the technology didn’t work. It was built for someone else.
Most revenue management software for boutique hotels wasn’t actually designed with boutique hotels in mind. Enterprise RMS platforms were built for large chains with hundreds of rooms, dedicated revenue managers, and plenty of time for onboarding and configuration.
That makes sense if your customer is a flag brand with an entire revenue department. It’s a much harder sell if you’re running a 40-room boutique property. You may also be handling group bookings, answering guest emails, and wondering why last Tuesday’s rate felt wrong in hindsight.
The result? Many independent and boutique hotels still manage revenue the old-fashioned way. They use spreadsheets, check a few competitor sites each week, and set rates that may stay unchanged until someone notices a problem.
These hoteliers understand the value of dynamic pricing. The problem is that traditional revenue management software wasn’t built around the way they actually operate.

Revenue management software built differently
We started Ramsi with a narrower, more practical question:
What would a revenue management system look like if it assumed you don’t have a revenue team?
That assumption changes almost everything.
Instead of handing you a dashboard to interpret every morning, Ramsi watches the market for you. It monitors competitor rates, local events, booking pace, seasonality, and other signals that can affect demand.
It can also update pricing multiple times throughout the day. That means someone on your team doesn’t have to constantly monitor and adjust rates.
But automation doesn’t have to mean giving up control.
Hotels can choose how they want to use Ramsi. Go fully automated and let the system handle pricing. Use review-and-approve if you want to check recommendations before they go live. Or stay manual while you get comfortable with the system.
We think of Ramsi less as software you operate and more as a teammate that happens to be very fast at math.
AI should make a hotel’s team faster, not make the team feel less necessary.
What automated revenue management looks like in practice
At Yorktown Beach Hotel, the team previously set pricing manually once a week.
After switching to automated pricing that updates six times a day, the hotel grew revenue 21% year-over-year. It then saw an additional 11% gain in the first half of the following year.
Matt Bowery, the hotel’s GM, put it plainly:
“Ramsi is making us money and taking work off my plate at the same time.”
Silver Collection Hotel took automation even further.
The team went fully automated and saw a 70% rate lift on an event night that they likely would have caught too late under their previous process.
Automation also gave the team back 5 to 8 hours every week that they previously spent checking and adjusting rates manually.
As Robert Rajecksky, VP of Hospitality at Silver Companies, described it:
“It reacts to the market faster than any human could.”
Neither property had to add a revenue management department. Instead, they added a system that handles work that was never the best use of a general manager’s time.
Why boutique hotels need better revenue management software
The point isn’t that boutique hotels don’t deserve sophisticated tools.
It’s the opposite.
Independent and boutique properties are often where good revenue management matters most. They don’t have a large revenue team to absorb the cost of a stale rate or missed opportunity.
Every room matters.
That’s why revenue management software for boutique hotels should work differently. It should monitor the market continuously, react quickly, and reduce the amount of manual work required from hotel teams.
We built Ramsi because we believe the property watching every room the closest is also the property that most needs a system watching the market for it.
If that sounds like your hotel, we’ll run the numbers and show you what better pricing could be worth to your property.
No revenue team required.
